Performance Management is the business process that ensures that all employees are working on activities that are in alignment with the company’s plans and strategies. Activities that are not in direct alignment with the company should be evaluated to consider whether that activity should be eliminated. Setting goals and objectives, tracking progress, providing feedback and appraising results are part of a robust performance management process. Without well written objectives, the rest of the process will be ineffective.

Understanding how your role affects the overall team is very important for each employee in order to increase both morale and engagement. Often, employees become frustrated and leave their company because they do not see the value they add to the organization.
Objectives provide clear understandable documentation of performance targets and desired outcomes. They are also the criteria against which an employee’s performance is tracked, coached and evaluated. Individual objectives are subsets for department goals. All of these objectives must be aligned to ensure that all individuals work is focused on the accomplishment of the business objectives.

The behaviors are the visible evidence and actions that the organization accepts and condones. Behaviors are the outward manifestation of the company values. How you achieve your objectives, through proper behaviors, will dictate the culture of your company.
